EC Services

Types of EC Services

EWA offers three types of services to students with disabilities: pullout, inclusion, and consultation.

  • Inclusion services offer the students individualized instruction by the special educator in the general classroom.   The special and general educators collaborate and co-teach and see that every student receives an appropriate education.

  • Pull-out or Resource program is a service in which the students with special learning needs leave the general education classroom for part of the school day.  In the Resource room the students receive individualized instruction based on their IEP goals.

  • Consultation services provides students with special education support in the classroom.  The EC teacher and the general education teacher collaborate and device strategies to enhance the learning of students with special education needs.  The relationship between the special educator and the general educator is based on the premises of shared responsibility and equal authority.  The EC teacher also acts as an academic coach and advocate for the student with special learning needs.

  • The three stages are used to help bridge gaps in students learning and help develop a sense of independence.  Our goal in moving through these stages is to see the students become knowledgeable, independent learners.  We want to see all children grow into the best they can be, by moving them through the different stages of EC services.
