Cowboys and Cowgirls for a Cure!
Our
annual
Cowboy Day
round
up was a success raising over $2,000 in the fight against breast
cancer. The stampede began Thursday evening on October 29th
with our annual
“Lasso-A-Cure Chili Cook-off”.
With over a dozen entries, it proved some like it hot but more like our
very own Miguel Bonano’s first place chili for the second year in a
row. Joining the line up of winners were the Fab Four, EWA Staffers,
Jennifer Byrd, Becky Thornton, Jennifer Thornton, and Sandy Wainwright
taking second place with a healthy chili. EWA Proud Parents, Jeff and
Krystl Newton, took fourth place with their chocolate chili!
Congratulations to a great cook-off and a competition worth braggin’
about! A cake walk and raffle also stirred some excitement with raising
more money for the foundation. In addition that night we were
entertained by Cowboys for Christ, a faith based non profit organization
that inspires all cowboys (and cowgirls) through music and a campfire
meeting. We were grateful for their support on the following day as
well when the Cowboy Day Parade began.
Carrying the American Flag and leading the way, our first Cowboy, Mr.
Smith and his posse of proud men and women and EWA students brought many
smiles and support.
Cowboy Day
is a celebration of our American heritage developing character and
self-esteem in our students and community. This event brings our
students, parents and area businesses together for fellowship and
community fun. The line-up included wagon rides, western music & square
dancing, a blacksmith, a pony trainer and much more.
Cowboy Day
signifies the parallels between the cowboys who won the West and the
brave women and men who are determined to win the battle against breast
cancer.
We
would like to thank you, our EWA families and friends that gave of your
time, hard work and donations~we couldn’t have done this without your
support!
