First Things First Student Services

 

Chris Holloman-Student Success Counselor

    This position serves as an academic career counselor preparing students for high school, and ensuring success focusing on grades 5-10. He will address the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students grades K-12.

 

 

Lauren Johnson-College Coordinator

   Mrs. Johnson serves as East Wake Academy’s College Coordinator. She is responsible for working closely with juniors and seniors to help them navigate through all components of successful high school completion.

  • Meeting with students and parents to educate them about colleges and universities, the admissions process, ACT and SAT testing, college profile matching, and financial aid opportunities.

  • Scheduling private college visits for juniors and seniors to be exposed to all opportunities available at various post-secondary institutions including private, public, and technical.  Mrs. Johnson also serves as liaison with College admission offices throughout the year.  She is also available to advise freshman and sophomore students as needed.

  • Writing official recommendations for each senior as needed.  To accomplish this goal effectively, Mrs. Johnson interviews seniors to gather ideas of affinities and aspirations.  She also supports recommendation with input from parents, teachers, and school records.

  • Planning annually and coordinating East Wake Academy’s high school graduation ceremony.

 

Frances Holloway-Elementary School SST

     If a child is hungry or hurting they can't learn. Mrs. Holloway's  position is to work with families, students, school staff, and community agencies to help students receive the best possible education as they meet challenges of the future.

 

     In her position, she accesses the needs of the individual students and determine the proper academic course to ensure academic success.

 

     She coordinates the screening process for the Responsive to Intervention Program and the Student Services Team. In addition, she also serves as the coordinator for 504 services.

 

  Becky Thornton-School Nurse

    Providing basic health services in the areas of immunizations, communicable disease control, health screenings, medications, health care counseling, and emergency care training.
