COUNSELOR’S CORNER: Notes from Mrs. Naftel…

Hello Sophomores!  I am excited to announce applications for HOBY (Hugh O'Briant Youth Leadership) are now being accepted! Since 1958 Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership has provided transformative leadership development training to positively impact the lives of thousands of high school students in the U.S. and abroad annually. This is an incredible opportunity to represent East Wake Academy and to grow as an individual. The student chosen will meet with leaders from around the globe and local community leaders as well. This is a fantastic networking opportunity. The event will take place June 11-13 2021.

Want to hear from an EWA student who has attended? Please feel free to contact: Mrs. Naftel

Interested students will need to do the following: 1) Write an essay in response to the following prompt: Describe the most rewarding and most challenging aspects of being a leader in your school and community. (Essay will be graded by the rubric attached) 2) Students will need recommendation letters from 2 references to be sent to Mrs. Naftel (via email snaftel@eastwakeacademy.org) to complete their applications. One recommendation must be a teacher from your 2020 Fall Semester class list. Applications are Due Monday, November 16 and the nomination will be decided Wednesday November 18th.
