Middle Academy Announcements
Calling all current 8th graders! There will be an audition for the 2023-2024 high school Hip-Hop Team on Thursday, April 20th from 3:30-4:30 PM. If you will be a freshman next year in high school, then you are eligible to audition. This team, starting in the next school year, will meet once a week after school and will perform at the pep rally and dance concert. MASC will have a lunch meeting in spirit hall on Wednesday 4/05. All members should be in attendance. Please see Ms. Berry if you cannot attend.
MASC will have a workday on Thursday 4/06 from 3:45-5:15 in room 207. All members should attend to work on dance items. Please email Ms. Berry if you cannot attend.
Our final BOOSTERS Dress Down Day of the year will be Thursday, April 6th. All funds raised will go towards making improvements to our weight room. Students can bring $4.00 Thursday morning and dress down. As a reminder, Booster dress down days are separate and NOT included on the yearly pass. Teachers will not be able to make change so anything over $4.00 will be considered a donation. Thank you for supporting EWA Athletics. Go Eagles!!
The Spring MA Dance "Under the Sea" will be on Friday 4/14 from 6:00-8:30. Only MA EWA students may attend. The attire is semi-formal or casual; your choice. Students must be in attendance the day of the dance in order to attend.
Dance tickets will be sold during lunch on Tuesday 4/11 and Thursday 4/13 for $8.00. Chick Fil A can also be pre-ordered on the same day for an additional $5.00 per sandwich. Please bring exact change. Tickets will also be sold the night of the dance at the door for $10.00. Please see the link attached for additional information LINK.
First Priority will resume next Tuesday, 4/11, during lunch in the dance room in Building 5. Remember, try not to bring a heat up on these days! We look forward to seeing you!

Drop and Pick Up No students are to be dropped off or picked up at building 5. Any student reported will receive disciplinary action.
Middle Academy Events
Middle School carpool does not begin until 3:15. If you arrive earlier you will be asked to go to the back of the line. Students are in class until their release time of 3:15.
EWA K-12 Field Trip/Educational Day: Our school spring field trip will be Wednesday, April 12th at the Mudcats Stadium in Zebulon, NC. All students K-12 will be attending an EWA Mudcats Educational Day!
Parents of Rising 9th Graders,
There will be a freshman orientation in Eagle Hall on April 11th at 6pm. Orientation includes discussion on the high school experience, Honors and AP courses, and graduation requirements. Please plan to attend. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
For 14 1/2 year old students that are interested in taking Drivers ed. class this summer.
Driver Ed Summer Class offered: Summer registration starts April 10th. A combined class for several local school, June 12th - 16th, Parents are encouraged to register through the Franklin Academy tab. We are having growing concerns and issues with parents arriving before their scheduled time to pick up students in carpool line. If you are a middle school parent and you arrive before 3:15, you will be asked to go back around until middle school students are released. No middle school parent should be in the line to give their number to a staff member before 3:15. Middle school does not dismiss until that time. Many parents are texting their child to come out to carpool. This is not acceptable. Students are to watch for their number in their classrooms and be dismissed by the teacher to head to the carpool line. Should your child be at the carpool area without permission from the teacher, they will receive disciplinary action. We ask that both you and your child adhere to the rules, policies and expectations for the safety and flow of carpool for all.

Afternoon Carpool procedures: If you have Elementary and Middle School Students that are carpooling together you will receive an ORANGE TAG. Your students are picked up in elementary/middle school carpool. Please do not arrive on campus until 3:20. If you have a Middle School Student and a High School Student, you will receive YELLOW TAG High School Student Drivers are automatically released at 3:15. If you have gone through the carpool line and your student does not come out, you must go through the carpool line again OR park and take your carpool tag into the dining hall to have your student called.
Middle School Carpool ENDS when the steady flow of carpool traffic has stopped. Remaining students will walk with a staff member to Wings in Bldg. 5. It is important that drivers arrive on campus at the designated times. Students that remain on campus after carpool ends (later than 3:30 p.m.) will be sent to EWA’s after school care program (WINGS) and the parents/guardians will be charged a nominal drop-off fee.
Middle Academy Sports Events
**When athletes have away games please initial the roster located outside of the Middle School entrance. Do NOT enter the Middle School office.**
When there is a home game, students need to be picked up during carpool and brought back to school for the game. Students may not linger after school.
Students are NOT to leave for sports while in transition to the next class. They may exit at the time of dismissal for that game day.
