Middle Academy Announcements

This week our school will be partnering with The Pulsera Project. The Pulsera Project provides sustainable, well-paying work opportunities for artisans in Nicaragua and Guatemala, most of whom make colorful hand-woven bracelets, or “pulseras” in Spanish. The project then creates a market for their artwork by partnering with schools across the U.S. Pulseras will be sold for $5 here in our school in Spirit Hall, and the proceeds will be invested in a wide range of social impact programs in Nicaragua & Guatemala. Today is the last day for purchases.

Today, Ms. Harty's class will be wearing blue “Phelan Lucky” t-shirts to honor 8th grader Rebecca Gelo and to help raise awareness of her rare genetic syndrome called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. What is Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (also referred to as 22q13 deletion syndrome)? It is a genetic disorder that involves chromosome 22. It affects how the brain functions and how the body functions, and its disabilities can vary from person to person. Each year, a Phelan Lucky fundraiser is held internationally to raise funds for the Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation and to also raise awareness of this disorder that most have never heard about. You can learn more about the syndrome at pmsf.org. We're Phelan Lucky at EWA!

It has come to our attention that some local restaurants including major chains have started outsourcing all of their deliveries through third-party vendors.  If your student's class is having an event or special day, please make plans to either deliver the item(s) yourself or either double-check to make sure the company handles their own deliveries.  All third-party vendors such as Doordash, GrubHub, etc. will be turned around and the order will not be received.

Please do not drop off students on campus in the morning before carpool. If you need to drop off earlier than 7:40, please utilize the morning WINGS service.

Middle School carpool in the afternoon does not begin until 3:15. If you arrive earlier you will be asked to go to the back of the line. Students are in class until their release time of 3:15.

Students,

During carpool, you are to be seated in your classroom watching the screen for your carpool number to come up. Students are not to be in the hallways, standing up within the classroom, but waiting for your number to be displayed. Parents are not to arrive before 3:20. Students are to only be dismissed by your teacher to head to carpool when you both see your number come up. Any students seen at carpool without permission or prior to release time will face disciplinary action. Thank you for following the rules that have been in place for your safety.

Middle Academy Sports

When athletes have away games please initial the roster located outside of the Middle School entrance.  Do NOT enter the Middle School office unless checking out a sibling.

When there is a home game, students need to be picked up during carpool and brought back to school for the game.  Students may not linger after school.

Students are NOT to leave for sports while in transition to the next class.  They may exit at the time of dismissal for that game day.
