SENIORS - this week is Free Application Week for the University of Alabama. Please use this link to apply if you are interested.
JUNIORS - Wake Electric seeks applicants for a one-week, all expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the 2025 Youth Tour and winners also receive a $1,000 scholarship! Winners MUST go on the Washington Trip to be eligible for the $1,000 scholarship. The trip will be hosted June 15-21, 2025. The deadline to apply is December 15, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. Applications must be in our office by the deadline. Applicants will be notified in mid-January 2025. Applicants must currently be high school juniors in the counties served by Wake Electric which include Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Nash, Vance and Wake counties.To apply, click here.
SOPHOMORES - HOBY Youth Leadership Nominations are now open.
What is HOBY? Since 1958, HOBY Youth Leadership has provided transformative leadership development training to over 500,000 high school students around the world. Our seminars guide students through three phases of leadership—personal, group, and service. These seminars educate 8,500+ students each year as they embrace a better sense of their leadership abilities, tangible ways to lead diverse groups, and a challenge to serve their communities.
The seminar dates are 6/6/25-6/8/25 on NC State's campus. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Ms. Shearin (pshearin@eastwakeacademy.org).
Bucknell University will be visiting at 9 am on October 16 in the Conference Room. If you are interested, please email pshearin@eastwakeacademy.org to RSVP.

CLUBS:
Unity Day is Wednesday, October 16, as part of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. This day is designed to show unity and encourage kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Students will be allowed to wear an orange top (shirt, sweater, sweatshirt, etc) with uniform bottoms that day to communicate that no one should experience bullying."
First Priority will meet tomorrow outside under the awning.
Attention Book Club: we will meet this Friday at lunch to discuss Life After Life. Please bring your book with you.
SPORTS:
There is a cheer interest meeting scheduled for October 9, 2024 from 6:00pm-7:00pm in Eagle Hall. The meeting is for students and their parents to discuss the upcoming cheer tryout and season.
