Counselor’s Corner: - Notes from Mrs. Naftel…

First and foremost, at this time, my hope for you and your family is that you are safe and that you take virtual learning one day at a time.  In our current circumstances we are seeing changes on a daily basis and if need arises for you and your family please communicate with us! We are happy to help and we are in this together!

NCVPS form for the 2020-2021 school year: If you have not had a chance to decide which online course to take, there is more time available!  Please know the new date is April 21 (Tuesday).  You can access the choices available at this webpage: https://ncvps.org/catalogs/ (classes are organized by subject area at the bottom of the page).

Rising 11th & 12th grade students: if you are interested in CCP but did not have a chance to attend Wake’s Info session and/or are interested in taking CCP courses online- I have options for you! Please email me at your earliest convenience so we can set up a virtual appointment to discuss these options.

Students Stay updated:

At this time EWA’s prom has been rescheduled for June 20th. We will keep you updated on any changes.

Seniors: We know there are many questions concerning 4thquarter academics, prom, graduation etc. We will address in a separate correspondence hopefully soon.

EWA News:

NOT Wake Co Schools – Please remember that East Wake Academy is not part of Wake County Public Schools.  EWA is a separate PSU (Public School Unit).  Our board and staff make the decisions for EWA based on what we feel is best for our students.  We do have State, Federal, State School Board and DPI laws, policies/procedures that we do have to follow (and we do!) All decisions for EWA will come from EWA through proper channels.

School Office Hours – Our school buildings are closed for students and the public, but school is still operating.  The main office will be manned Tuesday – Thursday from 9:00 – noon.  The best way to contact the school or admin is by email. We are also working in the building and remotely all week!

School Holiday: April 10-13

Reminder Families: APP and Website – If you have not downloaded the school APP, please do.  The APP is EWA in the palm of your hand.  Live Feed and News links are two great resources.  Take a look at all the messages from our teachers!  Also, from the staff list, you can email the teacher directly.

Please contact your child’s teacher if there are questions concerning their eLearning experience. We are here to patiently support our students and you throughout this challenging time.

Your support and encouragement are imperative to the success of this new normal. Thank you so much for your patience and help as we continue to navigate this new territory.
