Middle Academy Announcements

Today we would like to recognize Charlie Sifford. He is an African American professional golfer who is often referred to as the “Jackie Robinson of Golf” for breaking the color barrier in the PGA tournament. He went on to win two PGA tours in 1967 and 1969.

Read Across America week is coming up March 2-6. Middle Academy is going to have some fun with this in addition to it being Spirit Week! Each homeroom class will be decorating a door to be judged on Friday, February 27th. The theme is "Read, White, and Blue - Celebrating 250 Chapters of America". The winning homeroom will get a donut party and the teacher will also get a door prize. Let's see those creative designs.

NJHS is hosting a Read Across EWA in the Middle Academy week filled with a BINGO contest, door decorating challenge, and prizes. All students and staff will be receiving their BINGO cards today and can begin working on making a BINGO (5 in a row)! NJHS will be announcing the contest during homerooms today and will be in Spirit Hall to help students and staff who made a BINGO enter the raffle beginning next Monday, March 2. Two student prize drawings and 1 staff prize drawing will take place everyday throughout the week. After our pep rally on Friday, all students and staff will be participating in a "READ-IN" so bring your books or magazines and get ready to cozy up for a great afternoon of reading. Have fun reading EWA Middle Academy!

Lost and Found

Items lost in the main building will be located right outside the office. Students can come down BEFORE SCHOOL/HOMEROOM or DURING LUNCH. The gym lost and found will be in a container in the dining hall. Building 5/WINGS lost items will be in a container at the desk by the front entrance. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of each month.

Drop and Pick Up

No students are to be dropped off or picked up at building 5. Any student reported will receive disciplinary action.

When arriving for AA pickup in the afternoons, please arrive @3:45 and stay in the right lane closest to the building ONLY.

If your student does not come out to carpool and you have looped around, please come in to the Dining Hall (back of the gym) to give them your student’s number and your student will meet you there.

Middle Academy Events

Please do not drop off students on campus in the morning before carpool. If you need to drop off earlier than 7:40, please utilize the morning WINGS service.

Middle School carpool in the afternoon does not begin until 3:15. If you arrive earlier you will be asked to go to the back of the line. Students are in class until their release time of 3:15.

Students, during carpool you are to be seated in your classroom watching the screen for your carpool number to come up. Students are not to be in the hallways, standing up within the classroom, but waiting for your number to be displayed. Parents are not to arrive before 3:20. Students are to only be dismissed by your teacher to head to carpool when you both see your number come up. Any students seen at carpool without permission or prior to release time will face disciplinary action. Thank you for following the rules that have been in place for your safety.

Middle Academy Sports

When athletes have away games please initial the roster located outside of the Middle School entrance. Do NOT enter the Middle School office unless checking out another student that is not playing sports.

When there is a home game, students need to be picked up during carpool and brought back to school for the game. Students may not linger after school.

If your student needs to stay after school before a game starts, they must go to WINGS. Students should be registered for WINGS online. An email must be sent to a WINGS teacher giving students permission to attend the sports event/game. An email must be sent each time or for each game/event.

Once students leave WINGS they need to be picked up at the game and are no longer the responsibility of WINGS. Please contact Payton Shearin at pshearin@eastwakeacademy.org for additional information.

Students are NOT to leave for sports while in transition to the next class. They may exit at the time of dismissal for that game day.
