Middle Academy Announcements
Attention 7th and 8th Graders curious about membership in NJHS: Please note the following steps for becoming a member. Please refer to the attached document for more information. In order to become a member, you have to receive a letter with your name as a candidate on it from Mrs. DeJong.
All current 8th graders who were inducted last year have continued membership this year assuming all requirements continue to be met.
7th and 8th grade students who have met the academic and behavior requirements below will receive an invitation to be considered for candidacy in mid August.
Based on the information provided in student candidate forms and EWA staff input, candidates will be selected and notified by the beginning of September. These students will then participate in an induction ceremony when they officially establish membership into NJHS this fall.
Fall Sports Tryouts will begin August 3rd, please have your tryout packet turned in no later than July 31st. The tryout packets can be found on our athletic website at www.eastwakeacademyathletics.org or on the app EWA Athletics. If you are unable to schedule a sports physical with your primary care physician, OrthoNC does walk-in physicals for $10 at the Wendell Location.
Students and parents, please tune in to our App: EWA Athletics for any potential tryout changes/cancellations due to weather. Students should be prepared to practice in light rain.

Have you ever thought about being part of the Middle Academy Student Council? Are you interested in learning more about what it means to be a leader? Plan to attend the MASC interest meeting to learn more on Thursday 8/13 in Spirit Hall during lunch. Please bring a positive attitude and your lunch but please limit heat ups as you don't want to miss the details. Contact Mrs. Jessica Berry or Tara Strickland if you have questions.
Lost and Found
Items lost in the main building will be located right outside the office. Students can come down BEFORE SCHOOL/HOMEROOM or DURING LUNCH. The gym lost and found will be in a container in the dining hall. Building 5/WINGS lost items will be in a container at the desk by the front entrance. All unclaimed items will be donated at the end of each month.
Drop and Pick Up
No students are to be dropped off or picked up at building 5. Any student reported will receive disciplinary action.
When arriving for AA pickup in the afternoons, please arrive @3:45 and stay in the right lane closest to the building ONLY.
If your student does not come out to carpool and you have looped around, please come in to the Dining Hall (back of the gym) to give them your student’s number and your student will meet you there.
Middle Academy Events
Please do not drop off students on campus in the morning before carpool. If you need to drop off earlier than 7:40, please utilize the morning WINGS service.
Middle School carpool in the afternoon does not begin until 3:15. If you arrive earlier you will be asked to go to the back of the line. Students are in class until their release time of 3:15.
Students, during carpool you are to be seated in your classroom watching the screen for your carpool number to come up. Students are not to be in the hallways, standing up within the classroom, but waiting for your number to be displayed. Parents are not to arrive before 3:20. Students are to only be dismissed by your teacher to head to carpool when you both see your number come up. Any students seen at carpool without permission or prior to release time will face disciplinary action. Thank you for following the rules that have been in place for your safety.
Middle Academy Sports
When athletes have away games please initial the roster located outside of the Middle School entrance. Do NOT enter the Middle School office unless checking out another student that is not playing sports.
When there is a home game, students need to be picked up during carpool and brought back to school for the game. Students may not linger after school.
If your student needs to stay after school before a game starts, they must go to WINGS. Students should be registered for WINGS online. An email must be sent to a WINGS teacher giving students permission to attend the sports event/game. An email must be sent each time or for each game/event.
Once students leave WINGS they need to be picked up at the game and are no longer the responsibility of WINGS. Please contact Lisa Davis at ldavis@eastwakeacademy.org for additional information.
Students are NOT to leave for sports while in transition to the next class. They may exit at the time of dismissal for that game day.
