Week of May 2, 2021
As we turn the calendar to May, we also welcome Teacher Appreciation Week. We have been amazed by the support from our families (Thank You). Your donated gift cards are only one part of how we are celebrating this week. We have also been blessed by business partnerships that have stepped up to help provide breakfast, lunch, and other items that allow us to say thank you to our teachers. The Governor's new executive order addresses the use of face coverings while outside. We are waiting to hear from DHHS as they update their guidance for schools. Once we hear of changes to the State Toolkit, we will share them with our families. This is another positive step forward. Please continue to do all you can to help prevent the spread of COVID!
COVID Dashboard – Each day, we post our COVID Dashboard. The last few days of this past week were very promising and continue to show that our efforts at school are working. Our efforts only work because our families are doing a great job of keeping sick students at home. Remember that if a sibling is at home sick, please keep all siblings home until you know that your child does not have COVID. This practice has been paying huge dividends for us all. We ask that you continue to contact your child's teacher and Mrs. Dove when you have a child home because they are sick.
Teacher Appreciation Theme Week – Please see the attached THEME DAY plans for teacher appreciation week. Each day gives families an idea of how to tell a teacher THANKS!
Board Election Information - The EWA Board of Directors will elect Directors for two (2) expiring seats (terms are ending June 2021) at its regular meeting on June 8 at 7:30 pm in the Baker Center (inside the High School). Any person interested in applying for a Board seat should submit a current resume or bio, along with interest and vision for EWA. Submittals should include contact information and shall be delivered via electronic mail to stephanie.hall@eastwakeacademy.org. A question-and-answer session will be held before the board meeting from 6:00–7:00 pm on June 8 in the Baker Center (NCDHHS COVID-19 safety protocols are required).

Remote Only Students - If Strawbridge photographed your child and you ordered uniform pictures online on or before Friday, April 16, the packages were sent to the school. Mrs. Lloyd will be set up in front of the K4 office during the dates and times below for you to pick up packages. If you have any questions, please email blloyd@eastwakeacademy.org
