Week of November 14, 2021:
What a great long weekend! We hope everyone enjoyed the break and is ready to get back to work. We have six school days before we break again. We must make them all count! Our next break will begin on Tuesday, November 23. On our original calendar, 11/23 was an early release day. The board voted to make it a "mental health day" for students, staff, and family. Please enjoy the extra day of rest or travel time.
Our fall sports seasons have concluded, and we have quickly transitioned into winter sports. See the sports schedule below – come on out and cheer on the Eagles!

On the Horizon (Things to be on the lookout for/upcoming activities)
Shop with a COP – Our annual partnership with ZPD will happen in November. So start saving your change to donate to help ZPD provide Christmas for needed families in our community.
GIVING TREE- EWA's Giving Tree is filled with items that some of our EWA families are needing help with this year. If you would like to participate, you can simply sign up to bring in an item(s) from the sign up genius, or make a donation online through MySchoolBucks website. We are asking that all items be returned to school unwrapped by December 9. This will give us time to shop for items not purchased and get them to our families prior to track out. All monies collected through MySchoolBucks will be used to purchase unpurchased items or additional needed items for the families.
STOCKING STUFFERS- We are collecting small items to be used to fill stockings. Ideas of items we can use: toothpaste, toothbrush, matchbox cars, small toys or stuffed animals, brush, hair accessories, earbuds, soap, crayons, coloring books, ect. We would need all donations by December 9.

COVID Dashboard We post a daily DASHBOARD on FB, website, and Twitter. We are now providing a dashboard for each HOUSE (K-4, 5-8, and 9-12). Our five-county service area has returned to the "HIGH RISK" category for community transmission of COVID 19. Our current mask mandate has helped the school combat the spread and reduce the number of students facing quarantine.
Re-enrollment: This is for RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY.
It is almost Re-enrollment time. Re-enrollment for the 2022 - 2023 school year begins November 8 at 8:00 am and ends November 22 at noon. Please do not wait until the deadline to start the process. Everyone should already have a Parent Portal account set up in PowerSchool. This is the only way to get into the Re-enrollment System. Sibling(s) will apply in January (more information to come).
If you do not have a parent account for PowerSchool (username and password), or if you can not access your account, please get in touch with Mrs. Campbell TODAY! The best way to contact her is through email at kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org. Again, the deadline for Re-enrollment is November 22 at noon. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you do not complete the re-enrollment by the deadline, you forfeit your spot at EWA and will have to apply in January for the Lottery. If you know you will not be returning, please let Kim Campbell know as soon as possible (kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org).
How to Re-enroll - Once you get into your Parent Portal, look on the left side of the screen and scroll down until you see Registration 22-23. From there, you will be prompted to fill out Re-enrollment. It is best to use a computer, if you need assistance, Mrs. Campbell will be glad to help you. Mrs. Campbell will have a chrome book if anyone needs to come by and complete it at school. Would you please let Mrs. Campbell know ahead of time?
Records Request for Students: We understand that some families will explore other educational opportunities for their children, and we are ok with that process. Please let us know what you may need for your exploration, and we will help. But be advised: if East Wake Academy receives a record request from another school for your child, that child will be withdrawn from East Wake Academy for the following school year (2022 – 2023). East Wake Academy's receipt of the request is final and out of our hands legally. Please be in contact with Mrs. Campbell so she can help you. Mrs. Campbell can be reached at kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org.
