Rising 10th-12th Graders: The Shelton Challenge application is now open. The Shelton Challenge is a six-day residential program on NC State's campus and is built on the Shelton Leadership Center’s core values – integrity, diversity, social responsibility, and compassion – This opportunity is designed to help high school emerging leaders enhance their capacities to become values-based leaders. The application can be found here. Please reach out to Ms. Shearin with any questions. Applications are due February 15.

Pep Rally and the Homecoming Dance being Friday, February 9th from 8pm til 12pm.

The Spirit Week Days are as follows:

Friday- Color Wars

  • Seniors: Black

  • Juniors: Red

  • Sophomores: Blue

  • Freshmen: Green

Homecoming:

Homecoming Tickets will be sold at the half circle at lunch for $7 or $10 at the door.

The Homecoming Dress Code is as follows:

● All attendees should be dressed in semi-formal wear.

● Jeans are not allowed. Gentlemen should be in dress shirts and dress pants, ties and jackets are

optional.

● Dresses may be strapless or backless with straps, sleeved or sleeveless, or have spaghetti straps, one strap or halter strap. Dresses may NOT be both strapless and backless.

● Midriff exposure must be no more than 2 inches.

● Dresses AND slits in dresses cannot be shorter than fingertip length.

K-11 Spring Dress Down pictures are next Wednesday 2/14.

Lottery Application Begins January 8th: East Wake Academy's Lottery Application for the 2024 - 2025 school year will begin January 8th at 8 am and end on February 15th at noon. This applies to Siblings of current students and General Public.  Please go to www.eastwakeacademy.org and click on the Lottery Link on the Home page or the Admissions page. Lottery Application is online only.  Siblings go through the Lottery also and you must complete the Lottery Application to be included in the Lottery for the 2024 - 2025 school year.  The  Lottery will take place on March 6th at 9 am in the Eagle Hall Senior Academy.  You do not have to be present for the Lottery.  Once the Lottery is over, you will receive an email within 45 minutes of the lottery letting you know whether you got in and what the next steps are.  If waitlisted you will get an email letting you know what number you are and KEEP this email as you can check this for updates at any time.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim Campbell at kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org.

CLUBS: 

“Congratulations to Ms. Lane and the Cancer Awareness Class Club on a job well done for the first Volley-Bros Tournament.”

Attention Book Club: our February meeting will be at lunch in room 211 on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 15. Please bring your book, Guests on Earth, with you to the meeting.

Attention Juniors, the ACT will be on February 27th. To help prepare for it, after-school study sessions will occur every Wednesday (2/7, 2/14, and 2/21) in Ms. Nettles's room after school from 3:25-4:25, leading up to the test. There will also be a Google classroom with study materials that you may join. We look forward to seeing you there!

Represent and support EWA arts by purchasing an Inspire shirt, crewneck, or sweatshirt. They are on sale now until next Friday!! You can wear them March 7th for the art expo event in the High School Building. There are QR codes throughout the building as well as a link in the morning announcements. The Dance Ensemble auditions for next school year will be held after school on Monday, February 26th and Tuesday, February 27th from 3:30-4:30. Please see Mrs. Cyrus this week to pick up an audition packet and recommendation forms. 

"The EWA National Honor Society will be collecting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this week Monday the 5th through Friday the 9th. Donations will be accepted outside of Mrs. Nettles' room during lunch. Any donations will be greatly appreciated!". 

Mark your calendars - FBLA will meet Friday Feb 23 in Warren's room at lunch! 

First Priority meets every Thursday in the Baker Center during lunch. Anyone is welcome, and we would love to see you there!

High School students who are interested in participating in spring sports need to turn in their tryout packets no later than 2/13. See Coach Bowman if you have any questions.
