SPOTLIGHT ON Middle Academy Staff
This week’s staff spotlights are Mrs. Blackwell, Mrs. Dixon, and Mrs. Oliver!
Mrs. Blackwell is our 6th grade social studies teacher and one of our cheerleading coaches. She attended North Carolina State University. She enjoys chocolate and sweets. She likes to eat at Chuys, Tijuana Flats and Chick-Fil-A. In her free time she enjoys playing with her dog and dancing.
Mrs. Dixon is our 5th grade social studies teacher. She attended Meridith College. Chex Mix, Peanut Butter M & Ms strawberries are some of her favorites. Hobby Lobby and Kirklands are her favorite stores. She enjoys spending time with her family.
Mrs. Oliver is one of our exceptional children’s teachers. Mrs. Oliver is a Pirates fan and attends every ECU game she can! Mrs. Oliver also enjoys time at the beach and traveling.
Please congratulate this phenomenal group of teachers for being a Spotlight on campus!!
Middle Academy Events
Parents-
As you may know, East Wake Academy has been approved as a State COVID testing site for our students and staff. We have partnered with MAKO Medical, the State vendor for our area. We are asking that parents pre-register their students in the case of contact tracing. Please know that you will ALWAYS be called prior to your student being tested. Pre-registering just speeds up the process, in the event it is needed.

How to access the MAKO system:
1. Click on the link below - This would be the same registration you would complete if driving up to their testing site.
2. You will answer basic screening questions that we have all answered at some point
3. The next section asks you to agree to their testing protocols (There are two boxes you have to check - one at the top and one at the bottom of the page). Please review the testing protocols. We are not doing the POOLED testing with students at this time. We are only doing the individual (diagnostic) testing with students (antigen testing)
4. The next section is basic demographic information. This is information on your child. The email address and phone (cell) will be where you will receive results.
5. Final page is a confirmation message.
This is very basic and should take no more than 5 minutes. You will have to do it for each child. This system will help streamline our testing. If you have any questions, please email sdove@eastwakeacademy.org.
