Senior Academy Announcements
February 10, 2022
Good Morning Senior Academy
This week is National Counselors Week which is a time to focus on the unique contribution of school counselors within the U.S. school system. We want to thank Ms. Naftel for her great work and advocate for our students!
COUNSELOR’S CORNER: - Notes from Mrs. Naftel - snaftel@eastwakeacademy.org
We are on day 4 of National School Counseling Week. As we talk about being better together I would like you to remember that embracing our differences makes us so much more interesting. We are all have different abilities, attributes, interests, goals, backgrounds, and best of all different perspectives. I encourage you not to play the “comparison game” because your journey is your own. Find your passions and pursue them. It is easy to get swept up in picture perfect images we see on social media. Invest in the positive friendships you have and get to know others beyond the screen of your phone. C.S. Lewis said, “friendship is born at the moment when one person said to another, ‘What? You too? I thought I was the only one.”
Myself and the staff hope that in the 4 years you spend at the Senior Academy you will grow academically, you will start to form ideas for your future, and that you will also prepare yourself so you will be ready to begin your next chapter after graduation. Wishing you all a great Thursday!
STUDENTS STAY UPDATED:

HS FAMILIES:
- Valentine’s Day: Valentine’s Day is a special day for kids, and we all want to make it a special time. We ask families not to have flowers, gifts, balloons, etc., brought to school for delivery to individual students. We do not want anything to happen to delivery, and we want to make sure they receive the items. It is better to have them delivered to your home. We hope you understand our request, and this will help you with your planning.
- YEARBOOK: Attention Senior Parents: Please purchase an ad in this year's yearbook to celebrate your graduate. Visit www.jostensyearbooks.com Click on "find my school" and choose East Wake Academy. Then select "yearbook recognition ads." A full-page is $150, and a half-page is $100 If you have any questions, please contact Dena Coward: dcoward@eastwakeacademy.org
- As you may know, East Wake Academy has been approved as a State COVID testing site for our students and staff. We have partnered with MAKO Medical, the State vendor for our area. We are asking that parents pre-register their students in the case of contact tracing. Please know that you will ALWAYS be called prior to your student being tested. Pre-registering just speeds up the process, in the event it is needed. LINK TO REGISTER: https://home.color.com/covid/sign-up/start?partner=tf-eas-611-students
- East Wake Academy's Lottery Application for the 2022 - 2023 school year will open January 10, 2022, at 8:00 am and close on February 11, 2022, at noon. This applies to any SIBLINGS of current students and the General Public. Please go to www.eastwakeacademy.org and click on the "Lottery Link" on the home page or the Admissions page (OPENS JANUARY 10, 2022). On March 9, 2022, the lottery will take place at 9:00 am in the Eagle Hall in the High School. You will receive an email within 45 minutes of the lottery, letting you know whether you got in and what the next steps will be for you to complete. If waitlisted (not all SIBLINGS are guaranteed admission – you are guaranteed priority in the lottery. Admission is based on open space.), you will receive an email letting you know what number you are on the waitlist. Please KEEP this email as you can check this for updates at any time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim Campbell at kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org.
