Week of February 13, 2022
Happy Valentine's Day! We are working our way through the quarter and seeing great success. Our "Test to Stay" COVID mitigation plan has been great! If you follow our COVID dashboard, you can see our numbers are decreasing. We are cautiously optimistic moving forward. The NC Tool Kit was updated AGAIN! The new guidelines do not go into effect until February 21. They do change close contact tracing, notifications, and quarantining. It will be even more important to keep your child at home if they have any symptoms. We will continue to update you as we implement the new guidelines.
REMINDER: Friday, February 18 (Holiday), Monday, February 21 (Holiday), Tuesday, February 22 (Workday – no school for students) – This LONG weekend will be a great chance to relax, recharge, and get ready for the stretch run to track out!
Student Internet Safety – Our Safety Committee would like to share the following resource with our families. Internet safety for kids was a big push for the legislature during the last session. The link here takes you to a great resource. This is a partnership with NCDPI and the SBI. Please take time to watch the video!

Teacher Treasure Box and Teacher Appreciation fund:
We just wanted to thank those who have already made donations to our Teacher Treasure Box and Teacher Appreciation fund. We are still looking for a few additional items and/or donations. There are 3 ways you can help out
1. Send in small items for the Treasure Box- small gift cards, notecards, Flair pens, chocolates, lotions, etc... Please mark them Teacher Treasure Box.
2. Go to our website- www.eastwakeacademy.org and donate by clicking the GIVING tab.
3. Go to www.myschoolbucks.com and click the Teacher Appreciation tab.
We truly appreciate your continued support and partnership in celebrating our fantastic staff all year long!!!
Valentine's Day: Valentine's Day is a special day for kids, and we all want to make it a special time. We ask families not to have flowers, gifts, balloons, etc., brought to school for delivery to individual students. We do not want anything to happen to delivery, and we want to make sure they receive the items. It is better to have them delivered to your home. We hope you understand our request, and this will help you with your planning.
YEARBOOK: Attention Senior Parents: Please purchase an ad in this year's yearbook to celebrate your graduate.
Visit www.jostensyearbooks.com
Click on "find my school" and choose East Wake Academy.
Then select "yearbook recognition ads."
A full page is $150, and a half-page is $100
If you have any questions, please contact Dena Coward: dcoward@eastwakeacademy.org
PAL Information:
USED UNIFORM: This event is canceled for February 26. Without your donations, we cannot continue to help families. Remember, not only do your donations help the Used Uniform Sale, but it also helps our families who experience tragic events such as house fires, floods, etc. If your items don't sell on the market, consider donating them to us! We appreciated it!!
CRAFT MARKET: Calling all families!! Do you or someone you know have a business that would be perfect for our Craft Market? PAL is putting together a Craft Market on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 10-2 pm. All money collected from vendor sign-up will benefit our specials departments school-wide! Go to EAST WAKE ACADEMY PAL and click on the Craft Market tab to sign up. We hope to make this an annual event to benefit different aspects of our school for years to come. If you have questions, please email info@ewapal.com. Thank you for all that you do!
