Week of April 10, 2022
We have had a great return to school following track out. We are all living through a NC Spring – cool mornings, nice afternoons, RAIN, and pollen! Keep talking to your student about expectations and what they need to be successful at school.
This week is a short week! We are off April 15 (Good Friday) and April 18 (Easter Monday). We got this! Be awesome…
BOOSTERS CANDY MAN FUNDRAISER: Thank you so much to everyone that participated in Booster's Candy Man fundraiser! We do not have a total yet, but we do believe it will be their best one yet!!! Even though Friday was the original deadline for packets to be turned in, YES- we will still accept Candy Man packets on Monday! We are also extending the date for the opt out option to Monday as well. If you were not able to sell 10 items but would like for your child to participate, you can make a $100 donation (1 child) and they will be able to attend the Main Event. See below for additional students: Donation to qualify for Main Event: 1 child= $100 2 children= $150 3 children= $200 4 children= $250 Again, Boosters and the entire PE/Athletic Dept. would like to say THANK YOU for the support! Your time and donations will make a huge difference for the teachers, coaches, and students!!!
Teacher Appreciation Week: Thank you so much to those families that have already made donations or sent in gift cards! We are off to a great start! Just a reminder that we are looking for donations that we can use for Teacher Appreciation Week this year- May 2-6th. Please see below at ways you can help us celebrate our teachers/staff:
1. Donate a gift card- We would love to be able to gift each teacher/staff member with a gift card again this year! You can donate an actual gift card or an e-gift card. When you send them in, please be sure and mark them with Teacher Appreciation on the envelope. We will be collecting gift cards from now until April 25th. (Suggested value of $20) Please click here to sign up to donate a gift card: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508054DA5A922AA8-lets

BOOK FAIR
Dear Parents and Families:
We are happy to announce our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
Our Spring Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here's what you need to know about the Fair, which will be from Thursday, April 21, through Friday, April 29. During school days, the campus Book Fair will ONLY be open to Students. On Saturday, April 23, the book fair will be open for families to come in and shop from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. Elementary students will make a wish list during Specials to bring home for parents to see. If you wish for your child to purchase something from the book fair, you may send in cash or create an eWallet. You may also shop online at our school's Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school. Here is the link to the Scholastic Book Fair Homepage. https://www.scholastic.com/bf/eastwakeacademy2
Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It's a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too! Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping.
Students love to bring all of their change from their piggy banks and dump it out. They will say how much do I have and what can I buy? Mrs. Barnhill would appreciate it if parents would count the change and either put it in an eWallet or give dollars to their child. The e-Wallet worked great in December.
Mrs. Barnhill is looking for some volunteers to help with the Book Fair. Cashiers (must have a background check to run the registers), Shopping Assistant (Help Students make wishlists or pick out books to purchase), Pick up restock orders from the warehouse in Raleigh. If you want to volunteer, please use the link to sign up. https://volunteer.scholastic.com/#/experience/signup/1sACz6zfc
We're excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Barnhill
