Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year. We are so excited to welcome all students back to campus!! We can’t wait to meet our new families as we begin this school year.
As we open the school year, please know that we remain steadfast in our goal to provide your child with the best educational experience possible. Fulfilling the needs of the whole child; academically, behaviorally, as well as the social-emotional learning of our students are priorities.. Our teachers and staff are excited to start building relationships with your child and making connections with your family for this new school year.
We would like to welcome several new members to our Middle Academy family this year. We also have a few transitions that have taken place on campus. Please see below for our staff listings. We welcome all of our new eagles to the family!! As you can see we still have some vacancies that we are seeking Highly Qualified, passionate educators who will be assets to the EWA family. Requests for Substitutes: EWA is currently accepting applications for Substitute Teachers for the 22/23 school year. If you are interested, please email blloyd@eastwakeacademy.org for more information.
Open House: July 25th (Grades 5-8) – Our Open House will be on campus from 4:30-6:00, and we invite all families to attend. The format will be floating (meaning you pick the time you are here). Remember that this is a time to meet teachers, visit the campus, drop off supplies and see peers. It is not a time for individual conferences. You can schedule those with your child’s teacher later. You will be able to meet your child’s grade level team when you come to Open House. Open House ends promptly at 6:00pm. At 6, we will allow staff to go home and the Open House will be over. Students will receive their schedules on the first day of school. Schedules are set and will not be adjusted as we do not have space to move students around. Please note that all students have been assigned electives for the semester.
Reminders
Carpool: Detailed carpool information is attached to this email. You will receive carpool tags at the Open House. Carpool has not had any significant changes, but please remember to check your arrival times and be patient as it usually takes a week to smooth things out! We ask that you follow the directions of the staff and student helpers as this system only works if everyone complies and adheres to those working.
Uniforms: Please review the updated uniform policy located on our website (EWA Dress Code). Students must be in dress code beginning on the first day. Go ahead and get haircuts scheduled and get the hair color back to “natural” (meaning the color can be naturally grown out of your head).

WINGS: Yes – WINGS before/after school care is returning! A Wings letter is attached to this email. For additional information, please see website-posted under the more tab.
First Day: Our first day is July 27th, and we need 100% attendance on the first day. Attendance is a huge part of our funding, and we need you on-campus on day 1! If you know of any reason why you might not be present, please email Ms. Moore (dmoore@eastwakeacademy.org) so that we have a record of this information.
Our hashtag for this year is #EWA25. We are excited to embark on our 25th year of existence. Our partnership with students, staff, parents and families are what makes EWA a special place to be. Stay tuned to all the events that will take place during the year to celebrate this awesome “Silver Anniversary”! We are looking forward to a fantastic school year! As a reminder, the EWA Parent Resources Page is not an official EWA page and is not monitored by EWA staff. After the open house please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher or grade level teams with your questions or concerns.
