Middle Academy Announcements

President Lyndon Johnson established National Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968. President Ronald Reagan extended it to Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988. National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place from September 15 to October 15. It celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The Hispanic community is integral to the history of accomplishments of the United States. Immigrants are a vital part of that history, as well as the Latin Americans who were also part of the land and culture in the United States, long before it even had that name.

MASC will NOT have a lunch meeting this week. Council members should be speaking to classes during lunch to get student input on spirit week days. This is due Thursday during the work day. Please view google classroom for additional announcements.

MASC will have a workday on Thursday 9/15 from 3:45 to 4:45 in room 207. Please don't come to room 207 until it states carpool is DONE. If you are unable to attend please email Ms. Berry.

FBLA will  meet next Wednesday Sept 21 at 8am in Spirit Hall - we will discuss the Regional Competition.  Please review the documents in the FBLA google classroom before the meeting.

We are excited to announce the 2022 – 2023 Conjunction of Literary Engagement (COLE) program, which is the Charter school’s version of Battle of the Books.  This exciting literacy activity is offered to provide students an opportunity to read and report on challenging titles as they prepare to compete against other Charter schools from around the state.  This activity is open to all sixth through eighth grade students who enjoy literature.  There will be an interest meeting for COLE team during lunch on Thursday, 9/15 in Spirit Hall.

**Announcement from EWA Booster Club***

-The EWA Booster club is excited to announce that we will be having a DRESS DOWN DAY this Thursday, September 15th.  The funds raised by this DDD will go towards our first ever EWA Booster Club College Scholarship(s).

Students planning to participate will DRESS DOWN and bring in $4.00 on the morning of 9/15/22.  Students will give their $4.00 to their HOMEROOM teacher.  Teachers will not be able to make change, so please send in exact change or know that anything above $4.00 will be a donation.

*Please note, this DDD is for athletics and SEPARATE from the PAL dress down days. This DDD is NOT covered in the yearly pass.

Carpool Reminder: All students must be dropped off through morning carpool.  Parents cannot park and walk students up in the morning.  This is for the safety of all students and families.

Carpool Preparedness: Please ensure your student is ready to quickly exit the car in the mornings.  They should have their bookbags on and be ready to help speed up the process. Thanks for your help with this.

Tardies

Your child is tardy if they are not

seated in their homeroom by 8:15 am daily.  Even if the carpool line is

still running, your child will be marked tardy if they do

not arrive at their homeroom and be seated by 8:15 am.  Carpool begins at

7:35 each morning.  Again, we will allow students to be dropped off in the

carpool line up until 8:15; however, if they are not in class by 8:15, they

will be marked tardy.  Should your child arrive

after 8:15, they must sign in with Ms. Moore at the front desk of middle

academy.  EWA’s Middle Academy Tardy

Policy is linked.
