Spirit Week is coming February 27th-March 3rd with a Pep Rally in the Gym on Friday, March 3rd. The days are as follows:

Friday- Color War
seniors- black, juniors-blue, sophomores- green, freshman- white

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Shelton Challenge - Shelton Leadership (ncsu.edu) This is a leadership retreat for rising 10-12th graders. The core curriculum of this six-day summer program is based on General Shelton’s five values related to leadership: honesty, integrity, diversity, social responsibility, and compassion. Traditionally, participants live on campus at NC State University for the duration of the retreat. The application is found at the link. This will look good on college applications!
Scholarships:
Seniors who live in Wilson, Nash or Franklin County could qualify for the Golden Leaf Scholarship that is worth up to $14,000. Here is the link for more information: https://scholars.goldenleaf.org/

Nash Community College News:
Nash CC will be hosting a CTE showcase and this year we have included activities for students K-12. There will be interactive stations, games, and giveaways for all to enjoy and we hope that students and parents will come with lots of questions and excitement. The event is on Tuesday February 28th from 3:30-6:30pm.

East Wake Academy’s Lottery Application Information:
This is a general message sent to everyone that is currently enrolled at EWA. Our re-enrollment process is complete. This message is for parents of EWA students that have siblings not currently enrolled in EWA at this time.
East Wake Academy's Lottery Application for the 2023 - 2024 school year will open January 9, 2023, at 8:00 am and close on February 10, 2023, at noon. This applies to any SIBLINGS of current students and the General Public.
Please go to www.eastwakeacademy.org and click on the "Lottery Link" on the home page or the Admissions page (OPENS JANUARY 9, 2023). On March 8, 2023, the lottery will take place at 9:00 am in the Eagle Hall in the High School. You will receive an email within 45 minutes of the lottery, letting you know whether you got in and what the next steps will be for you to complete. If waitlisted (not all SIBLINGS are guaranteed admission – you are guaranteed priority in the lottery. Admission is based on open space.), you will receive an email letting you know what number you are on the waitlist. Please KEEP this email as you can check this for updates at any time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim Campbell at kcampbell@eastwakeacademy.org.

All FBLA study guides were emailed last week - please begin studying for your state competition! We will meet TODAY Friday Feb 10 at lunch in Warren's room to schedule testing for next week! If you have any questions - or did not receive your study guide information - please contact Mrs. Warren immediately!

Spring Sport Tryouts will begin the week of February 13th. If you are trying out for a spring sport and you submitted a tryout ticket in the fall or winter through email, you will need to resend it so it can be updated in our system. If you submitted a paper copy, you will need to make sure your physical is up to date. Electronic copies can be sent to Coach Bowman (bbowman@eastwakeacademy.org), paper copies need to be handed into your Coach on tryout day. Email Coach Bowman if you have any questions.
