East Wake Academy will be closed for the Easter - Friday 3/29 and Monday 4/1. We hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday.

First Grade has had an EGG-cellent Week - fun centers learning about springtime traditions around the world, STEM projects, and ending with our annual egg hunt!

First graders in Ms.Pridgen's class got back into the sweetness of class by sorting, counting, and graphing Jelly beans today.

To kick off the start of the last quarter of the school year, the Looney Boones revisited what it means to be a great friend and how our words and actions can impact others. Using the story “Making Friends is an Art”, we engaged in the wrinkled heart activity, pledged to continue being kind individuals, and made friendship bracelets. -Mrs. Boone, 2nd Grade

Good afternoon EWA families. As we were looking forward to the solar eclipse on Monday April 8th we realized the timing of the eclipse could have a negative impact on our students and staff (https://eclipse2024.org/eclipse-cities/city/30259.html). Looking directly at the sun during an eclipse can cause significant eye damage. Unfortunately, the timing of the eclipse is right in the middle of our carpool dismissal. As a result we are going to dismiss early on our normal early dismissal schedule. Unlike our typical early dismissal days, WINGS will be available to families. Thank you for your understanding. The mobile dentist is returning to EWA. The team will be here on 4/2 and 4/3. Below is the online consent to sign up. This must be completed for your student to be seen. It's a beautiful day at EWA! The trees are blooming and the staff are working hard to prepare for the 4th quarter. We are excited to see everyone back on campus tomorrow!

7th grade students attended a field trip to the Holocaust Museum in Richmond, Virginia. The teachers were so proud of the behavior and example the students showed during the trip! They were engaged, asked great questions, and showed off their history knowledge. What a way to represent EWA!

7th grade students dissected frogs and compared their body systems to the human body systems that we have been studying. We’ve decided we have several students who have great potential in health service careers!

Fourth graders enjoyed special visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Baker and Summer the therapy dog! Students learned about comfort, therapy, and service dogs and enjoyed meeting a real therapy dog. Thanks Summer!

“🎶🎵Caring is the way to be, yeah!🎵🎶 If your students came home singing this phrase it’s because yesterday our K4 students participated in an interactive assembly from Dancing Drum! The assembly was centered around character traits like fairness, responsibility, and caring! Students AND staff were up drumming and jamming! What a great way to close out the third quarter!”

Making fractions REAL WORLD for these 3rd graders in Ms. Heuts and Mrs. Stewart’s homeroom! A big shout out to the families that sent in the goodies❤️

Thank you so much to all our local community guest readers that took time out of their busy schedule to come read to K4 students yesterday for Read Across America Day.

Lottery - Tomorrow - 3/6/2024 at 9 am The Lottery will take place on March 6th at 9 am in the Eagle Hall Senior Academy. You do not have to be present for the Lottery. Once the Lottery is over, you will receive an email within 45 minutes of the lottery letting you know whether you got in and what the next steps are. If waitlisted you will get an email letting you know what number you are and KEEP this email as you can check this for updates at any time. Thanks to an EWA PTA Teacher Grant, students in Mrs. Pace’s Class are now working with words and phonics in game-based play and they are having fun too!

Congratulations to these K-4 students for being our courage character trait winners! We are proud of them for consistently demonstrating bravery and the ability to face difficulty without fear!
