Get ready to kick off Boosterthon 2026 at East Wake Academy!
This Thursday, September 17, we’re having a campus-wide Dress Down Day! The cost is $4 per student, and 100% of the funds raised will go toward our new playground equipment.
Thursday also marks the kickoff of our K-8 Boosterthon Fun Run & Color Run fundraiser, supporting our New Playground Equipment Campaign.
Last year, our EWA community raised a record-breaking $40,250 toward this project! This year, our goal is to raise at least $40,000 as we continue working toward the $75,000–$100,000 needed for our new playground equipment.

In K-4 PE, students recently completed the first fastest class challenge of the year! This is a quarterly competition that tests each student’s physical ability and mental toughness! Each team works together to get the most laps in 5 minutes!

"What if the most important lesson in PE this year isn't about throwing, catching, or running?
Last week, our students began the year with a lesson called "Be the Bee."
It comes from an old story: ask a fly what it's seen, and it will describe every pile of trash in the yard. Ask a bee, and it will describe every flower. Same yard, but each one is wired and trained to notice something different. Students learned that people are the same way. Some are quick to spot what's wrong with others. Some are quick to spot what's good.
Through our activity, students practiced being the bee with each other: noticing effort, encouraging a struggling teammate, and calling out good plays instead of mistakes. It's not about ignoring challenges or mistakes. It's about choosing, on purpose, what you look for in the people around you.
Each class received a small bee to put up in their class as a reminder to be the bee. When you have a chance, ask your student about the story of the bee and the fly!

Ms. Blair’s 3rd Grade class uses the Zones of Regulation for their daily Social-Emotional check In. What an awesome way to check on every student!

Ecology: Students explored the area around EWA to identify abiotic and biotic factors and connect their observations to the characteristics of life.
Earth & Environmental Science: Students completed a scale-model lab in which they calculated and modeled the relative sizes of the planets and the distances between them to better understand the scale of our Solar System.

Ms. Blair’s third grade class read a book called The Crumpled Hearts to help promote kindness. They learned that even though we can apologize after using hurtful words, people’s feelings & hearts don’t completely mend. This helps students learn the theme: think before they speak!

This week, Mrs. Pace's First Grade class discovered the power of having a growth mindset through The Magical Yet by Angela DiTerlizzi. 📚💙
After reading the story, our first graders reflected on something they can't do...YET! Together, we created a predictable sentence chart where each student shared a personal goal and celebrated that learning takes time, practice, and perseverance.
Today, our young authors reconstructed their own sentences and illustrated them with colorful, creative pictures. 🎨✏️
Soon, we'll compile all of their pages into a special classroom book for our library—a wonderful reminder that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
We may not be able to do everything today... but with hard work, determination, and a little magic, we can always add the word "YET!" 💫
