Today First Grade celebrated the 50th Day of School! We learned about how things were so much different in the 50’s than today. The students got to try Coke and Root Beer Floats and we went outside to give a try at blowing bubbles with Double Bubble Bubble Gum!

We made Jack-O-Lantern cookies today in Our EC class today - Mrs. Fisher

Students in Mrs. Pace’s First Grade Class are practicing reading this week’s story with expression.

High school students are learning to code in their Intro to STEM course. Do you want to build a snowman?

First graders have been learning all about pumpkins. Today they went outside to carve one! The students had to decide what happened “First, Next, and Last” when carving a face in the pumpkin. The students were able to touch the icky guts and take a seed home to soak and plant! Once inside the classroom again, the students taste tested a “Candy Pumpkin.” Today was so much fun!!

ZPD has just informed us Whitley Street is closed. Please be aware as carpool may be impacted and delays possible.

Last night the NHS held our first ever Powerpuff football game and it was a success!
Shout out to Wendell Parks & Rec and the Wendell Rams - we couldn't have done it without you!!

EWA students and staff celebrated Unity Day by wearing orange

Students in Ms. Pridgen’s 1st grade class made a Candy Corn craftivity. The students were given an equation problem with 3 addends. The students used each part of the candy corn when solving the problem.

7th graders worked hard on reading technical text this quarter. They dressed like pirates and learned a new reading strategy, THIEVES.

We were thrilled to recognize these character trait winners this morning on the K-4 announcements! These students were nominated by their homeroom teacher for always showing respect toward others.

Unity Day is Wednesday, October 18 as part of National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. This day is designed to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Students will be allowed to wear an orange shirt with uniform bottoms that day to send a visible message that no one should have to experience bullying.
Any students getting their yearbook picture made for retakes will need to bring a polo-style uniform shirt to change into for their picture.

Mrs. Williams' Digital Communications class is studying photo composition and went outside to take pictures using the different elements we learned.

Message from PTA:

Today K-4 students welcomed NED’s Mindset Mission. Students enjoyed the yo-yo and magic tricks and were encouraged through the mission of NED presented in the assembly to never give up, encourage others, and do your best!

Students from Mrs. Pace’s Class & Ms. Heuts’ gathered together this morning to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, and sing our National Anthem.

This mural created last year by Miranda Halterman, a 2023 EWA graduate, is now on display in the front K-4 stairwell. She did an amazing job, and we are excited to have such beautiful artwork to brighten up that space!

Fall Yearbook Pictures will be going home this week. If you ordered a package, you will be receiving that. If you did not order, you will be receiving a proof sheet with information on how you can still order online.
Next Wednesday 10/18, Strawbridge will be on campus taking Make up/Retake pictures. If your child was absent on the original picture day (8/30) this will be their last chance to be photographed for the yearbook! If you are unhappy with your child's picture this is also the only opportunity to have it retaken.
If you child needs their picture taken on 10/18, please make sure to let their teacher know, as not everyone will be photographed this time.
Thank you for supporting this school fundraiser!
